Liverpool surely licking their lips as Tottenham midfielder Victor Wanyama will likely line-up to face them on Sunday after Spurs confirmed they would be without Harry Winks as well as Eric Dier.

The Spurs’ official Twitter account revealed on Friday that both Dier and Winks would be unavailable to face Jurgen Klopp’s side as both players were carrying injuries.

Given that Mauricio Pochettino doesn’t have tons of central midfielders to choose from then surely this confirmed blow for his side will lead to Wanyama getting the nod to start.

This should be music to the Reds’ ears as the 27-year-old is more than capable of being a liability for his side, and they can expose him as a result.

Wanyama has featured only six times in the Premier League this season and when he has been called upon, he has struggled to shine bright.

In fact the midfielder has often been sloppy in possession and doesn’t seem able to dominate the midfield battle for his side like he previously could.

Also given that Wanyama hasn’t played much football this season, due to injury and not being first-choice, his confidence probably isn’t at the level it should be.

This means that if the Reds target the 27-year-old as soon as the game kicks-off then they may rattle him enough to see him make mistakes, as the player will no doubt be nervy at playing a side as formidable as Klopp’s team.

While Wanyama will likely have Moussa Sissoko to partner him in midfield, a player who has impressed this season, it’s highly unlike the Frenchman will be able to cover his teammates’ potential mistakes.

If Dier and Winks were available then Spurs would be better for it but given that they’re not, it plays right into the Reds’ hands.
