Tony Cascarino has heaped praise on Liverpool full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The £50,000-a-week defender [Spotrac] enjoyed a stellar campaign for Jurgen Klopp’s Reds, cementing his place as first choice right-back and reaffirming his role in the England setup.

And Cascarino has been quick to drool over the youngster.

Speaking to the Times, when asked about his under 21 player of the season, the pundit said: “Trent Alexander-Arnold.

“[Aaron] Wan Bissaka and Bournemouth’s David Brooks have been impressive but Alexander-Arnold looks like the complete player.”

OPINION

Alexander-Arnold has been sublime this season, and he fully deserves all the plaudits he gets. He surely would have won the PFA Young Player of the Year award had it not been for the eligibility of 24-year-old Raheem Sterling, and his performances have shown once again that he has a long a prosperous career ahead of him. Increasingly, there is talk of him moving into a more advanced, midfield role, as Steven Gerrard did in the early stages of his career. You would have to say that the move would suit him. His vision is superb, but his execution is on another level entirely. The way that he laid his cross on a sixpence for Sadio Mane in Sunday’s 2-0 win over Wolves would have been breathtaking were it not such a regular occurrence. Alexander-Arnold has a massive future ahead of him and the Kop will be expecting him to continue on his meteoric rise next term.
