Liverpool are reportedly in the race alongside a number of clubs to sign James Rodriguez from Real Madrid in the summer but they should halt their pursuit.

The Mirror have claimed that Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal are all in the race pursuing the Colombian, and will face extra competition from around Europe in the form of Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain.

With it looking increasingly likely that Real Madrid with ship the 27-year old out in the summer, there will be a number of clubs looking to sign the midfielder.

There is no doubting Rodriguez’s ability, and he would definitely fit in perfectly at a number of clubs around the world, however he wouldn’t quite be the right move for Jurgen Klopp at the moment in time.

His age must be considered at this moment in time, and the Reds may be better off looking for someone with more youth, and a smaller price tag above their head.

It’s clear to see that the current crop of Liverpool players are doing a fine job, although there definitely needs to be extra players brought in over the summer transfer window to help cope with the demands of the Premier League next season, and it seems like Rodriguez would be an unnecessary addition should he eventually make the switch.

The Colombian has registered seven goals and four assists in the Bundesliga this season in a total of 20 appearances, and it seems unlikely that he will be able to cope with the demands of a year-long Premier League season, along with the Champions League fixtures next year, when he hasn’t been a regular starter for Bayern this campaign.

Rodriguez also would not be a cheap option for the Reds in the slightest, and they must stay clear of the move, especially considering how well their current crop of midfielders have been playing of late.

The likes of Georginio Wijnaldum and Fabinho are unlikely to be dropped anytime soon, after impressing consistently all season, and it seems like bringing in a big name like Rodriguez at the time in his career could quite possibly be the wrong move, for both parties.

Whatever the outcome however, there is no doubt that the Colombian will find his ideal move, as there are a number of clubs currently showing interest.
