Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is keen to bring in another forward to supplement his attack this summer, according to the Evening Standard.

The newspaper claims that the German is looking to sign a young, versatile attacker who can provide his fearsome front three with reinforcement.

The club may also need to sign a back up goalkeeper if, as expected, current reserve shot-stopper Simon Mignolet moves on in search of first team football this summer.

OPINION

This makes a lot of sense considering the club have already announced that striker Daniel Sturridge is leaving the Reds when his contract expires this summer. Because of that Liverpool will likely need to bring in another attacker this summer. Obviously Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane are firmly installed as the starting attackers in Klopp’s team, but we’ve seen at times this season that you do need quality strength in depth should one or more of them suffer an injury. Firmino had some problems towards the end of the campaign and it was Belgian international Divock Origi who stepped up to the plate and delivered the goods – particularly in Europe. However, it’s a good idea to have another player who can operate all along the front three to help Origi back up the established attackers. There’s still starlet Rhian Brewster who the club have high hopes for, but it would be sensible to bring in another forward to make it a trio backing up a trio next term.
