Pop superstar Niall Horan has sent a nine-word message to Liverpool winger Harry Wilson urging him to leave Anfield and return to Derby County.

The former One Direction member, a renowned Rams fanatic, was responding to a post on Wilson’s personal Instagram account showing him back in pre season training with the Reds.

Horan’s reply was typically Rams-ian in nature: “Get back to derby and stop you’re messing around,” he told Liverpool’s Welsh international.

The 22-year-old enjoyed a thrilling campaign on loan at Pride Park last time out, but for now he appears to be very much a Liverpool player.

OPINION

This is typical Horan, isn’t it? He’s always been a big Derby fan, but over the course of the last season his fandom has appeared to have grown exponentially. Frank Lampard almost secured promotion back to the Premier League for the Rams, an event which led to a bizarre Twitter beef between Horan and Leeds United. Now it appears that the former One Direction member has set his sights on enticing Wilson to return to Pride Park. Unfortunately for him, that looks to be a huge long shot at this stage. The most likely scenarios for Wilson are him remaining at Anfield for the season, being loaned out to a Premier League team, or being sold permanently to a top flight side. You will have noticed that none of those options are a return to Championship football with Derby. It’s time for the Welshman to be tested at the highest level. He’s shown he can do it in the second tier, now we need to see how he fares against Premier League defences.
