Mike Parry shared that he thought the thinking on Merseyside among Liverpool fans is that Jurgen Klopp should stay at Anfield until Rangers manager Steven Gerrard is ready to succeed him.

The talkSPORT host stated that he believes Liverpool fans think the Gers boss should succeed Klopp at Anfield and that means the German could end up staying for another season or two.

Parry aside from commenting on Gerrard and Klopp’s potential futures, also claimed that Liverpool will win trophies over the next couple of years.

“As for Jurgen Klopp he is so loved on Merseyside by Liverpool fans, he could pick his own time to go,” said Parry on talkSPORT (12:39 pm, Saturday, August 3rd).

“If they don’t win the Premier League, the Liverpool fans, how many years is now since they won the top league? 30? Of course, it is.

“And the Premier League trophy has been going nearly 30 years, and so he can pick his time.

“And the thinking on Merseyside I believe is that Klopp should stay around until Steven Gerrard is ready to take over and that may be another two or three seasons.

“I think that’s the way Liverpool fans think, and Liverpool will win things in next two or three seasons.”

OPINION

The idea of Klopp leaving is unthinkable at the moment as it was only last season that he guided the Reds to Champions League glory. While the German boss missed out on overseeing the Reds win the Premier League title, as they finished with just one less point than Manchester City, even if he doesn’t go one better in the upcoming campaign, it’s hard to see him walking away. Liverpool fans and Liverpool’s chiefs are no doubt aware of how formidable Pep Guardiola’s side are, and it’s a tough task to beat them to the title. While the Reds are capable, if they fail, it shouldn’t have a negative effect on Klopp’s future. As for Parry believing that Liverpool fans think Klopp shouldn’t leave until Gerrard is ready to take his place in the hot seat, that makes sense.  Gerrard is the ideal future manager of the Reds, after all, he is a club legend, but he just needs to prove himself at Ibrox. The English boss guided Rangers to a second-place finish in his debut season and if he beats Celtic to the title this season, then he’ll be one step closer to proving himself as being good enough to manage Liverpool.
