Steven Gerrard has posted a two-word message on his Instagram account ahead of playing for Liverpool against Rangers in a legends game at Ibrox.

The Gers’ boss will play a half for both sides in Scotland on Saturday afternoon, with the likes of Jamie Carragher and Emile Heskey featuring for the Reds.

Gerrard posted a photo on his personal Instagram account ahead of the game, with a Liverpool shirt with his name printed on the back, adding the simple caption: “Game on.”

Gerrard made 504 Premier League appearances whilst at Liverpool, scoring 121 goals and adding 70 assists during his 17 years in the senior side.

OPINION

This is the picture that all Liverpool fans have been waiting to see ever since the Reds’ legend left Anfield back in 2015. The midfield icon will never be replaced in the eyes of all Reds’ fans, and all of their dreams will be fulfiled at Ibrox when the teams take to the field at Ibrox on Saturday. Gerrard appears as thrilled as everybody else to be back in the all Red of Liverpool, and will no doubt bring his no-nonsense approach to the legends game. 710 games are about to become 711 for the club, and this may be one of the last times Gerrard is involved before he potentially takes charge of the club after Jurgen Klopp leaves his role. The Reds’ legend has been tipped by many to become the next manager of the club, including the likes of Ian Holloway, and Gerrard would surely be more than excited to take the reigns.
