Bayer Leverkusen sensation Kai Havertz is one of the most in-demand players in Europe at the moment.

Liverpool were reported last month by Sport1 to have joined Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester City, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Arsenal in the hunt to sign the 20-year-old.

Mundo Deportivo recently revealed that the Reds would need to pay £87million to secure the German international at the end of the season.

Liverpool would pull off a masterstroke if they were complete a deal to sign Havertz in the near future, but based on comments from the player himself, and Germany manager Joachim Low, they would face an uphill battle to do so.

“I listen to many people but in the end, it will be my decision,” he said in a press conference, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News.

“I will embrace any advice Low will give me because he has a lot of experience – it wouldn’t be smart to not listen to him.”

That might not be the news that Liverpool fans will have been hoping for, especially given the view of the German national team manager.

“I’ll talk to him on occasion, but not now and not this year,” he told Sport1.

“He’s supposed to be playing in Leverkusen, where he plays regularly, that’s the biggest advantage for a young player like that.”

Given that Havertz has admitted that he would listen to Low’s opinion, it might not be all plain sailing for any interested clubs, especially because he believes the best place for the 20-year-old to progress right now is Leverkusen.

Liverpool should go all out to secure Havertz soon, with him being involved in 23 goals in his last 41 Bundesliga appearances playing in an advanced midfield role.

The German sensation has averaged 1.6 shots on goal per game according to WhoScored, as well as completing two key passes – stats which highlight his ability to create chances for himself and his teammates.

Liverpool are surely facing an uphill battle to secure the services of Havertz based on his and Low’s comments regarding his future.
