Alan Shearer has picked Liverpool midfielder Fabinho in his Premier League Team of the Week after their 2-1 win against Tottenham.

Goals from Jordan Henderson and Mohamed Salah saw the Reds come from behind to collect all three points at Anfield after Harry Kane opened the scoring in the opening minute of the game.

The Brazilian international sat at the base of midfield and halted numerous Spurs attacks in the game, as he takes his place in the team alongside Manchester City’s Ilkay Gundogan.

Liverpool continued their unbeaten run in the Premier League, keeping their six-point gap at the top of the table after 10 games.

OPINION

Fabinho just continues to get better and better as the games pass by, and is surely one of the best in the Premier League at this moment in time. The Brazilian midfielder took plenty of time to settle in English football after arriving from Monaco, but he is making up for lost time as the season progresses. The 26-year-old is simply irreplaceable for Jurgen Klopp at this moment in time and is fully deserving of all the praise he is getting showered by on a weekly basis. Tottenham definitely threatened the Reds on the counter-attack on Sunday, and without Fabinho they would have found it hard to have coped. The South American completed four tackles and three interceptions at Anfield according to WhoScored – superb stats that further reinforce how vital he is in midfield for the table-toppers. Fabinho is certainly one of Liverpool’s main men, and he will be pivotal to them potentially winning their first-ever Premier League title.
