Liverpool attacker Xherdan Shaqiri is likely frustrated over his lack of playing time this season.

After all the Reds winger has only featured for 11 minutes in the Premier League across two appearances and has only tasted three minutes of Champions League action after making a tiny cameo appearance in the 2-0 loss to Napoli.

While a calf injury, as per Transfermarkt, has helped limit Shaqiri’s minutes this season, it does seem like he has fallen down the pecking order at the club based on how little Klopp uses him.

Therefore it was no surprise when Football Insider reported that Shaqiri wants to quit the Reds at the end of the current season due to becoming frustrated over his lack of playing time and because he fears for his chances when it comes to knocking the likes of Mohamed Salah out of the team.

As it does makes sense that the 28-year-old does want to be playing more and it makes sense that the winger thinks he could get more playing time at another club.

Shaqiri has proven himself in the Premier League, he has racked up 21 goals and 18 assists in 110 appearances in the division,  so there will no doubt be a host of English clubs keen to get his signature.

However, Football Insider also revealed Jurgen Klopp’s stance on Shaqiri potentially wanting out as they claimed the Reds boss may consider letting him go in the summer, but was unlikely to wave goodbye to him in January.

While you may think that Shaqiri would want to get more playing time sooner rather later, it does seem extremely unlikely that the winger will debate Klopp’s stance based on his latest remarks.

The Switzerland international revealed that it’s his dream to win the Premier League title with Liverpool, so surely he won’t want to leave in January so he can potentially bask in the celebrations of the Reds winning the league.

“I’m really happy, my biggest dream is to win the Premier League with this club (Liverpool),” said Shaqiri, in an interview with Sky Sports.

Liverpool currently sit top of the Premier League, eight points clear of second-place Leicester City, so Shaqiri will only possibly need to hold out till the summer to achieve his dream, which he no doubt will be happy to do.
