Paul Robinson has slammed Liverpool keeper Adrian after his cameo appearance in the 2-1 win against Brighton on Saturday afternoon.

The Sky Sports pundit was not impressed by the goal conceded by the Spaniard after Lewis Dunk scored a quick free-kick whilst he was organising his wall after coming on for Alisson Becker who was sent off.

Robinson claimed that the summer signing should have been much more aware at Anfield, and went on to criticise a couple of mistakes after he dropped a number of crosses and looked far from comfortable.

“He looked really edgy, really shaky, especially as it was just a one-goal lead,” he told Football Insider on Monday.

“It’s hard enough coming on and conceding a goal which he should have been more alert to stop, it would have knocked his confidence.

“And I think he looked shaky in the game, he dropped a couple of balls and he didn’t look comfortable.”

OPINION

Adrian took his place on the bench at Anfield on Saturday not expecting to feature at all against Brighton. So when he saw Alisson given his marching orders towards the end of the clash for a handball outside of the box, he knew he was about the thrown into the deep end to try and cement the three points. It wasn’t the best of starts for Adrian either when the freekick hit the back of the net, but the most important part for Jurgen Klopp will most likely be just the three points in every game between now and the end of the season. The full-time whistle will have brought along a big sigh of relief from the summer signing who will need to be prepared to come in from the start against Everton on Wednesday. Robinson was right to say it probably knocked Adrian’s confidence slightly, but that will all be forgotten about by now, especially after they managed to secure all three points in the game.
