According to Italian publication Calciomercato, Liverpool are believed to be interested in a possible summer swoop for Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish, with the news shared on Twitter by @AnfieldWatch.

Calciomercato added that the 24-year-old is also a target for Manchester United. Manchester City and Chelsea, with Anfield Watch stating that the playmaker is valued at £70m.

Grealish has been a standout player for Dean Smith’s side this season, scoring nine goals and providing eight assists in all competitions despite his team lying second from bottom in the Premier League following their promotion last year. Earlier this week, former England striker Kevin Phillips told Football Insider that the attacking midfielder would be a good fit for Jurgen Klopp’s team and would likely depart Villa Park if his current club lose their top-flight status.

The 24-year-old, who has played mainly as a left winger this season but can also operate as a central attacking midfielder, provided the assist for Fabian Delph’s winning goal against the Reds in the 2015 FA Cup semi-finals. Liverpool’s reported interest in him prompted a mixed reaction among these Kopites on Twitter, with some believing he would be a shrewd investment and others quite unconvinced:

Do you think Liverpool should seriously consider signing Grealish or would he have much to add to Klopp’s current squad? Join in the discussion by commenting below!
