A report from Spanish publication ABC Sevilla [via HITC] claimed that Liverpool are keen on signing Sevilla defender Diego Carlos in the summer transfer window, with @AnfieldEdition on Twitter sharing the story.
A previous report by El Desmarque claimed that the 27-year-old centre-back was aware of the Reds’ interest in him since they held discussions with the La Liga club in January about a possible transfer, although his preference was to remain in Seville until at least the summer.
Liverpool are eyeing up Sevilla defender Diego Carlos this summer, viewing him as a potential partner for Van Dijk that can stay consistently healthy.

The Brazilian has a £65m release clause in his contract (as per El Desmarque) and has been a regular in Sevilla’s line-up this season, making 31 appearances in all competitions. He has averaged 5.1 clearances per game in La Liga, a superior figure to those posted by Liverpool centre-backs Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip, Dejan Lovren and Joe Gomez (as per WhoScored).
Van Dijk has been ever-present for the Reds throughout the Premier League season, leaving one other centre-back slot potentially up for grabs. However, far from being excited about the club’s links with Carlos, these Liverpool fans on Twitter seem pleased with Jurgen Klopp’s current options for a central defensive partner for the Dutchman:
Would you say thats necessary considering we have Gomez and Matip

Need a back up when Lovren leaves but Gomez and Van Dijk should be the starters

Heard this a few season now. Don’t think Klopp would wanna disrupt Joe and Virgil’s partnership though. Someone young with high ceiling and who’s content to learn and bid his time to be a starter would be ideal. Very hard though.
