Newcastle winger Sylvain Marveaux has explained his decision to join the Magpies. He told France Football:

“Indeed, I was very close to joining Liverpool. People knew I was a free agent and I didn’t want to extend at Rennes. In January, Newcastle were the very first to contact me. Then, there was Liverpool, and I gave them my consent. But I never stated it was already done with the Reds. Then, last Thursday and Friday, there were some changes and I made the decision to sign at Newcastle.”

It was speculated that Marveaux had failed a medical at Liverpool due to a long term groin injury but the Frenchman denies this was the case. He hints that there was a last minute disagreement over personal terms:

“The medical at Liverpool went off smoothly, I am fit to play and perfectly healthy. Actually, things already established had to be negotiated again. So I decided to change my mind and sign with Newcastle, who never gave up. It was not a second choice. That club has big impact in England, with a wonderful stadium and amazing fans. The club also has a lot of ambition.”

This week it is former LFC WAG Pamela Camassa!

I think Marveaux knows he will “break down” and spend time injured. LFC felt that risk I believe, and Marveaux I suspect just went with the best pay he could get for not playing!!

our sports science team at lfc are very specific and strict about a players fitness. He prob didnt come up to scratch enough for them. Look at stevie g- hardly played last year cos he had to get his peak fitness back. Carroll with his tigh strain when he signed. Agger non existent.

After reading all these negative posts my head is about to explode!! Please show some faith in Kenny and the new owners. Turning Liverpool around will take time, money and patience. Anything Kenny will do will be for the betterment of LFC.Is it not refreshing to know, that the man that is leading our great club, loves LFC as much as any of us? Keep the faith!
