Many fans have been calling for the Liverpool management to give some of our more exciting youth prospects some first-team opportunities this season – especially the apparent abundant attacking wealth we have at our disposal.
One such talent is 18-year old Toni Silva – currently on-loan at League Two outfit Northampton Town, where this week he scored his first professional goal against relegation rivals Dagenham & Redbridge.
The Portuguese youth international winger was a constant threat, running at the opposition defence throughout and forcing saves from the ‘keeper, before scoring the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win.
Silva left for an initial 28-day loan period on February 14th and will hopefully have gained great experience upon his return.
With recent news that Raheem Sterling is allegedly growing unsettled at his lack of involvement with the senior squad and Tottenham Hotspur sniffing around, the call to give our young starlets a chance at senior level is growing louder by the week.

Why even mention the obvious bollocks the Daily Heil printed about Sterling? It cheapened what was a decent overview of how Silva’s loan is progressing.
Mentioning the ‘obvious bollocks’ as you put it, is in direct relation to the growing concerns a lot of fans have with our starlets not being given the opportunity to even make the bench this season, whilst out-of-form players/players who have had a chance, continue to swell the ranks.
I’m all for giving the promising and talented youngsters a chance at reserve and/or 1st team experience. Letting them out on loan will help as well. Ultimately it’s up to the manager and his management team to decide.
