LIVERPOOL FC will leave Merseyside later this afternoon to embark on the club’s North American tour.

The squad will fly out from Liverpool’s John Lennon Airport however absentees include Olympic participants Luis Suarez, Sebastian Coates and Craig Bellamy, whilst Pepe Reina has been given extra-time to recuperate after winning Euro 2012 with Spain’s senior side.

Newly-crowned Spanish Under-19 European Champion, Suso, has however been included in the Reds squad.

Reina’s absence gives his understudies an early chance to show the new manager what they can offer as they jostle to become his ‘number 2’.

Rodgers confirmed that all players involved in the summer’s 2012 tournament would be given 4 weeks off from the date of their last game in the competition. Daniel Agger’s rest period came to an end yesterday and is therefore expected to travel with the rest of the squad. Despite Italy reaching the final of the tournament, new signing Fabio Borini (who was part of that squad – although never playing a single minute), is included.

However Liverpool’s six England representatives during Euro 2012 still have time to recuperate, however will be fully expected to join up with the squad later in the week, in time for the Reds to face Roma in Boston on the 25th July. Regardless of recent speculation, Andy Carroll, who is part of that group, has been included in the squad.

The full squad representing the Reds under new boss Brendan Rodgers in North America are:

Goalkeepers: Peter Gulacsi, Brad Jones, Danny Ward

Defenders: Daniel Agger, Jamie Carragher, Jon Flanagan, Stephen Sama, Brad Smith, Glen Johnson, Jose Enrique, Martin Skrtel, Danny Wilson, Martin Kelly, Ryan McLaughlin, Andre Wisdom, Jack Robinson

Midfielders: Charlie Adam, Alberto Aquilani, Joe Cole, Suso, Lucas Leiva, Stewart Downing, Steven Gerrard, Jordan Henderson, Jonjo Shelvey, Jay Spearing, Raheem Sterling, Jordon Ibe

Strikers: Adam Morgan, Andy Carroll, Daniel Pacheco, Krisztian Adorjan, Fabio Borini, Nathan Eccleston

Jimmy Areabi (Editor) - @fantasista1077: Huyton raised like Steven Gerrard, football has been my passion since the time I received a Kenny Dalglish badge as a toddler, and I've followed the Reds ever since – something that was easier during the 80s, when I worshipped John Barnes! I've produced work for many football media outlets & am now happy to run a major site on the club I love - providing our fans with a voice, and to bring as much information and news on the club as possible.
Having played football all my life, I aim to continue longer than Stanley Matthews...

Looks like a very deep squad there – a solid mix of experienced players and youth. My one concern is that the youngster won’t actually get a REAL opportunity and that they’re simply being brought along for the air miles. Here’s hoping I’m wrong.

The squad is good for me but my only worries are the strikers… Apart from Borini that have just arrived, i dont see any quality striker up there…. Lets just hope that carrol proves his worth and for the other young lads, this is also their chance to prove what they’ve got in themselves…YNWA

carroll wont be joining the squad until after the first game, could be a chance for the likes of morgan to show what he can do, also could be a chance for pacheco to prove himself

Good mixture of squad but there’s one big missing name Taxiera from Sp Lisbon unless mr editor missed his name, moving I hope BR will be brave enough to give this young lads a chance in the 1st team more enough than during KD and RA era look at FCB they have a lot young lads given a chance on a very tency games for one good reason they proved in training and on their reserve league that they are good enough to be on the 1st team and they never disappoint because they were nothing different they have to do from what they have been doing…. Yes we can BR in you we trust!

    • Jimmy Areabi (Editor) says:
