Is PSG youth star the perfect man to replace Carra?

Sakho PSG captainBY now it is no secret that Jamie Carragher is going to retire at the end of the season – and who could blame him?

With Liverpool still looking way off from challenging for the title and the uncertainty surrounding the club’s future, the defensive stalwart feels that he has given enough to the club. This is something that fans will have to come to terms with no matter how difficult it may be.

Now that we’ve gotten this out of the way it’s time to plan for the future. In my opinion, Carra has given more this season than was to be expected when things got under way in August. However, with the defence looking frail and Skrtel finding himself on the outside, Jamie Carragher has performed admirably, especially given the years on his tread.

At the end of this season Brendan Rodgers and company will have to replace a leader in addition to a player. But for now let us focus on the player.

There have been plenty of names tossed about when talking about Liverpool bringing in a defender this off-season. I’ve already written one article about Dejan Lovren and the likes of Ashley Williams and Efe Ambrose have also been put into the mix.

The latest figure to be added to the bunch is Mamadou Sakho, the French defender who came through the ranks at Paris St. Germain.

At 1.87 m tall and just 23 years of age there is much to like about Sakho. He became the youngest player ever to captain a Ligue 1 club (on his debut, no less) and subsequent displays saw him labelled as ‘the new Thuram’ in the French press. He’s gotten experience at a big club in PSG who also find themselves in the Champions League but that’s not enough for his liking now. Since being benched after initially losing his place in the side due to injury, the defender has made his desire for regular playing time known, even if it means a move away from the French side.

Mamadou Sakho is certainly not going to be the last player to be linked with Liverpool but could he fit in the current squad and would he bring immediate improvement?

Personally I haven’t seen enough of him to answer that but as the season has gone on I have become more and more frustrated when watching poor defensive performances.

The need to fix this issue should be of top priority in my opinion. Whether or not it will happen is something that will only become evident during the summer.

Jordan Henderson is lazy player at LFC because he will never chase the ball after missing it. He is also scare to tackle down the contenders players and cannot beat defender or dribble skill not so good to call a midfielder.I think with his physical size body, much better if he start playing as defender or CDM.We want to see he very brave and playing combative style. Please doing many trial shooting the ball from outside penalty box and be more creative create the chance to strikers score the goal.We want start now J.Henderson will change his style of playing to be more combative player.

Have you got nothing better to do than to cut and paste your identical comments about jordan Henderson on every liverpool site going, even when the articles have not even mentioned him? Are you Jaimie Kanwar in disguise.

Next season we all hope that Mamadou Sakho,Stefan De Vrij and Ashley William will joining LFC.

Sakho is left footed and has been unhappy at page as he isn’t a regular starter this season. He’s a good player but very, very mouthy and a bit of a primadonna. At LFC Agger will start so we need a right footed centre back ideally to partner him.

i still think benedict howedes would be the perfect choice for liverpool to partner agger, with coates and kelly as cover. and while we’re in germany, konstantin rausch would be a bargain choice for competition with jose enrique (free transfer). we may not be the richest club out there but just look what dortmund did by being smart with transfers. if we stop splashing out on premier league players like we have on downing, carroll, allen etc we could build a team to really challenge. no more wastes! just look at coutinho’s impact already and he was cheaper than borini, henderson, downing, allen and carroll.

Couldn’t agree more on the overpriced players of epl. however i don’t like howedes I prefer sakho and of course the Brazilian Dede frm vasco da gama. Those 2 could be the strongest twin in the whole premier league with no exaggeration.

demis, Howedes is a nice guy jst dat u’ve nt seen him ply; aldoh any of sahko and dede wud b vry gud. And d greatest mistak rogers wud do and wat wud chase him out of his seat is to replace carra wit williams, dat guy sabi ball elf? Una no dey watch am, hwe is no gud

And everyone’s forgotten about Skrtel so soon…form is temporary, but class will alwayz be permanent!!! Skrtel will return to form and give a shocking answer to you critics and fake fans!!! *HISS*

    • steven says:

i havent forgotten about skrtel but from what has been said and how he has been playing, it seems like the summer may be the right time for him to leave for all parties involved. i think he has done a good job for us, but the player himself seems like he doesnt have the right motivation in this regime anyway, and if the kind of money that has been specualted is received from his transfer it would be a good time to sell.
