Liverpool targetLIVERPOOL FC’s chase for a marquee signing could be over according to The Daily Mirror, as they hope to land Willian.

Reports suggest that Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has identified the Brazilian winger as the one big signing for the summer.

Willian only joined Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala 8 months ago but due to financial difficulties the owner has, in theory, made all members of the first team squad available for transfer.

Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group are willing to bank-roll one major signing and with the Russian club looking to slash costs the Reds are hopeful of completing a deal for under the £32million Willian moved for 8 months ago.

The Anfield club have missed out on a few big name targets this summer including Diego Costa from Atletico Madrid and, of course, Henrikh Mkhitaryan who went to Borussia Dortmund.

Competition will be high to sign Willian with Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas a firm fan of the Brazilian. Chelsea could also be in the market for the high profile player.

With Liverpool not having to sell players to raise funds though, it is hoped that they can push through a deal quickly and get the player they want to Anfield on this occasion.

Realistically I don’t see willian joining lfc,the end story will be similar to that of mkhitaryan and Diego costa.

I like this line up if only it is true. However Suarez will not be playing for 6 more games. Siquiera and Willians have not been officially been confirmed yet . What about Allen , Henderson , Aspas , Alberto , Wisdom , Kelly , Sterling , Ibe and Coates ?

Lfc won’t be willing to pay 100k per week so lets forget willian, its a cheap ploy to get us all hyped up..but rogers has to be weary with the way spurs are spending coz they are strengtherning in key ares like strikers and midfield

    • thomasz says:

what possible purpose could “a cheap ploy to get us all hyped up” have? Why would anyone at the club want to get the fans excited, only to let them down? How is that going to help them run the club?

Non-sense. The only hype is from the media. Trust the club, trust the manager; they will let us know when something worthwhile is happening. All the rest is just click and circulation bait.

    • allaboutanfield says:

I agree . From what I can see they are buying cheap players who can have real market value in a couple of years time. If they bought a player now for about 9 million pounds for 3 years deal . In 2 years the player will be worth anywhere from 15 million to 20 million pounds. It would make good business sense. Unlike the current situation we lost money on Adam , Carrol and Drowning.

  • NastyKOP says:

If he(Rodgers) likes, he can keep fooling himself. Rodgers hasnt any idea about the trophy winning hunger of lfc as a club. I hope he is not banking on enrique becos dat would be suicidal.. No LW, NO LB, No RW, 8th position and rodgers must go

    • Nkem Tony says:

I am really behind you. My own is sit down dey look. If by December, we are not within top 3, then Rodgers should go by January. I just want to give Breden Rodgers the benefit of doubt that he is doing the right thing and buying the right players. But wait ooooh, it seems I am confused, he is just doing the same thing Arsene Wenger is doing, they are linked with all the good players. They will go there and just inquire what the asking price is, the papers will carry the news that such a player is on his way to the club and before you know it, that will fizzle out. They are looking for average players from Swansea and Greek clubs. Please, can somebody give me Rodgers phone number or email address.

  • Willy d'gaffer says:

You all deluded fans criticising Rodgers are just short-sighted. Rodgers is not the media, the Media has every right to write whatever they want about transfers but please don’t blame Rodgers. Look beyond and see the project at hand. Support the team, the manager and the backroom staff cos I see a greater Liverpool. YNWA

  • Marshall says:

Forget top4 lfc are balancing the books this season..how can you plan top4 assault with toure @ centre back and allen for a creative midfield?time swallow our pride, unless we buy two defenders and willian but again his wages demands are beyond our financial objectives
