Liverpool FCLIVERPOOL FC chairman Tom Werner has today spoken about how much credit manager Brendan Rodgers deserves for the way the Reds have performed since the turn of the year, according to The Liverpool Echo.

After a flying start to the current season that see’s the Reds flying high in second place, Werner has come out in full support for the job Rodgers is doing at Anfield:

“I think Brendan has made remarkable progress,” Werner said.

“He’s a great strategist and has shown strong leadership. When we hired him, we were confident we were getting one of the brightest managerial talents in the game and he is proving his worth.

“He’s dedicated to improving the club as a whole and shares our vision of developing a club that is built for sustained success.

“He has shown a willingness to use young players and at the same time demonstrated the ability to get the best out of our established stars.

“Brendan is respected by the players and his philosophy has been embraced by everyone. We are all moving in the same direction and Brendan is very much the leader.

“The club is definitely moving in the right direction under Brendan and as owners we’re very optimistic and excited about the future.”

LFC as a team is still not good enough for top4 finishing, just in striker department that SAS are performing EXCEPTIONAL well. I can read Werner statement as an excuse for not bring in any new players in coming transfer window

I can imagine in future matches that LFC might lose even SAS score 4 but conceded 5 in return.

You cannot be serious red. I admit, our midfield is definitely lacking at the moment, but defensively we are looking stronger than last season. Skrtl has proven his worth this season thus far, Toure is Toure (leading the defense) and Sakho may not be the most attacking CB, but he’s like a brick wall, and that’s excluding Daniel Agger which is one of the best CB’s in the league.

There are definitely area’s we can improve, but then again, every team has its weaknesses and since Brendan Rodgers has taken over he’s been working on these key weaknesses. People complain about how Aspas and a few others haven’t made an impact yet, but he also brought in Sturridge, Coutinho, Mignolet, Toure and Sakho who all have made an instant impact and have been key to the success of this team so far. Alberto and Illori are both future prospects, so you cannot count them yet.

I think we are miles ahead of where we were 3-4 years ago. Just because we don’t have an absolute excess of ‘marquee’ names, doesn’t mean we cannot perform at their level, in any case we perform better, because there is unity and teamwork. Chelsea look like a hot mess at the moment. Every single player is a marquee name, but they don’t work as a unit. United look lost and out of place since under Moyes, and City are up and down. The only other teams in my opinion that look solid and consistent are Arsenal, Spurs and Everton.

If that is what you read then you need some education. Your thinking is really troubling.

    • Dennis says:

Red you are correct . We aren’t good enough for top 4 . We have had a lot of easy matches , harder times are coming

  • FSG Out says:

Resurgence will be when we are winning titles every year, Werner is just bullsh*tting the fans, a brief 8 month spell of form is hardly raising the standards of old.

    • aaron says:

Do you know much about our recent history?

No one said he has raised standards of old, just the standards of recent seasons.

Your name implies you want the saviours of our club out, ok let’s get them out and return to our debt riddled past. Tool

we are not good enough but good by the standard of 3 to 4 years ago, let’s not deceive ourselves Lucas and Gerrard currently are not good enough and they are our problem with setpiece.
