It’s been an interesting week for Liverpool fans, where transfer rumours are concerned, with the Reds reportedly looking to sneak Memphis Depay ahead of Manchester United, whilst Brendan Rodgers’ side are also supposedly looking to take Falcao from Monaco when he returns from his loan with United in the summer.

But the rumours have taken a more realistic turn in the past couple of days, with the Reds looking at a couple of talented but possibly not as widely coveted players in Mareille’s Andre Ayew and Roma’s Radja Nainggolan.

Both reports feature in a mixture reputable and.. less reliable sources but they’re at least a couple of names that haven’t come up a great deal in a while, with Ayew having been a fixture on the gossip pages before but not having been linked to Liverpool since the summer.

Nainggolan is reportedly part-owned by Roma and Cagliari but Belgian journalist, Kristof Terreur, has claimed that Roma are not able to afford a permanent deal for the midfielder, which may mean Liverpool could push a deal through, if they offer the player a more suitable wage.

The downside is how much the midfield would cost (between £20-30 million, according to reports), considering that his contributions do not fall exclusively in either defensive, or attacking and his goalscoring and assists stats do not really stand up to great scrutiny. There are certainly better options available for that amount but it wouldn’t be outside the realms of possibility to see Liverpool overspend on a good, but not great, player.

On the other hand, however, Andre Ayew is a highly-rated Ghana international who has been largely outstanding for Marseilles over the past 4 seasons, scoring 44 goals during that time.

Ayew is a wide player by trade but can play in a number of areas across the front line and has been in impressive form for his country in recent seasons as well.

Bizarrely, Ayew could be available relatively cheaply and the Metro – of all places – claims that Liverpool merely have to match his £42,000 a week wage demands to sign the player that is very keen to join Liverpool.

Both would represent improvements on a number of players in the current Liverpool squad but, while Ayew would represent something of a snip at a reported £12-15 million, particularly at the age of 25, Nainggolan would be a much more expensive, purchase.

Would either player be a good addition to Liverpool’s squad? Let us know your thoughts on these two below.

The major problem with Liverpool now is their inability to score goals following the sale of Suarez and prolonged injury to Sturridge. Ayew will be a great improvement to LFC’s strike force particularly if they can spend more on a quality centre forward. Ayew operating from the flanks in place of Ibe (inexperienced) will bolster the attack given his wild pace and eye for goals. Just imagine Ayew + Depay at the flanks with Sturridge or Falcao at the centre. We are good.
