Liverpool midfielder Cameron Brannagan has credited Jurgen Klopp for helping him develop as a player this season.

The 20 year old started his first league game for the Reds in the 1-1 draw against West Brom, and performed well in a central midfield role, looking assured and showing good close ball control. When asked about the role of the manager in his development by the Liverpool Echo, Brannagan replied:

“The manager has helped me a lot. It’s the desire he shows and the way he encourages you.

“If you aren’t doing something right in training he’s always there straight away to help you out. If you need advice he’s always there to speak to. It’s the same with the senior players here. You need people like that around you as a young lad to help you grow.”

In October, Brannagan signed a new contract to stay at Anfield until 2018, warding off interest from Barcelona who have been closely tracking the player over the last couple of seasons. With more impressive displays like yesterday, the young midfielder will be hoping for more appearances under Klopp next campaign.

The Reds face Sevilla in the Europa League final on Wednesday. A victory would seal a place in next season’s Champions League, and it would also cap off an excellent first season in charge by Klopp.
