Liverpool drop pursuit of £32m rated Brazilian striker

Liverpool and Manchester United will not bid for Palmeiras striker Gabriel Jesus, according to Brazilian website UOL Esporte. The 19 year old has a release clause in his contract but the two clubs are not interested in pursuing the Brazilian.

Liverpool would have to pay €40million (or £31.5million) and they are not willing to pay such a sizeable fee with the club not in European competition next season. The lack of games would mean the Reds would have too many strikers for the matches available.

United on the other hand would have to pay only €24million (£19million) as they are one of five clubs included in the player’s contract that allow the player to leave for a lower amount. The striker is however not a target that new manager Jose Mourinho is interested in. Jesus can also leave for €24million to Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, according to UOL. The German club are said to be the club most interested in the player,
