Porto midfielder Yacine Brahimi has avoided questions about his future when asked by a Portuguese journalist. The Algerian international has been linked to Liverpool and Chelsea in the Portuguese media in recent weeks.

When interviewed by the Portuguese Sport Daily O Jogo at a press event in Paris on Thursday, the 26 year old responded that he is contracted to the Portuguese side for another three years:

“I’m in Porto. I have a contract until 2019 and I am player of FC Porto. The rest I leave for my representatives to deal with.”

Porto are struggling to meet UEFA’s Financial Fair Play rules after finishing outside the automatic Champions League places last season. They were third behind both Benfica and Sporting Lisbon. The lack of income from the Champions League may mean they are kicked out of European competition altogether, and they are looking at ways of selling some of the most valuable players like Brahimi and Hector Herrera in order to comply with UEFA’s rules.

Brahimi played predominantly on the left wing last season, scoring nine goals and providing ten assists in 44 matches.
