Some Everton fans destroy Walcott for display v Liverpool

COMMENTARY

Liverpool secured a narrow 1-0 win over Everton on Sunday and while several players made life difficult for the Reds, some Toffees supporters knew one player that should take some blame for their side leaving Anfield with zero points. While Jordan Pickford’s blunder will be torn apart and pinpointed as the cause for the Toffees’ loss in the media, Toffees fans seemed more intent of slamming attacker Theo Walcott for his display on Sunday rather than their goalkeeper. The 29-year-old was subbed off in the 62nd minute after looking like he had taken a knock in order to be replaced by Ademola Lookman and the 21-year-old winger being on the pitch was clearly more of a worry for the Reds’ defence. However while the Reds were able to defend the threat of Lookman, it should be clear why some Toffees fans want him playing instead of Walcott. While one Toffees fan harshly urges Walcott to never come back after he was ineffective in the Merseyside Derby, it’s easy to see why they felt the need to tweet that.
