Adrian Durham understands why a club like Liverpool would want to sign Ryan Fraser amid reports that the Reds are in advanced talks to sign the Bournemouth forward.

According to talkSPORT, Liverpool are in negotiations over signing the 25-year-old in January with his contract at Bournemouth set to expire at the end of the season.

Broadcaster Durham has admitted that Fraser’s stats have impressed him and can see why the Scot would pique the interest of Jurgen Klopp.

“His stats are very, very good and more and more managers are using stats,” said Durham, as shown via talkSPORT’s official Twitter account on Monday evening.

“So you can understand certainly why a top club is interested in him.”

OPINION

Fraser’s stats have been impressive since the start of last season, but since the start of this season, they have not been anywhere near as good. He has scored one goal and supplied two assists in 11 Premier League appearances for the Cherries this season while last term he ended the campaign with eight goals and 15 assists in 42 appearances across all competitions. He is not exactly on track to come anywhere near to those figures this season and that could be down to the lack of clarity surroudning his future at Bournemouth. Fraser’s deal expires at the end of the season which is why the Reds could land the Scottish forward on a cut-price fee in January. Or, they could wait until the summer and see if they can get a free transfer. Klopp has enough strength in depth to see out the season so why not wait until the campaign ends and try to bag Fraser for free. He might save the club £15million that way and be able to spend that money elsewhere.
