LIVERPOOL captain Steven Gerrard is eager for the club to continue bringing in new talent for next season, according to The Liverpool Daily Post.
Gerrard, who yesterday signed a new two year deal with the club, will now remain at Anfield past his 35th birthday, and the lifelong Red has admitted he is feeling optimistic about Liverpool’s progress in the coming seasons under Reds boss, Brendan Rodgers.
With the arrival of quartet Kolo Toure from Manchester City, Spaniards Luis Alberto and Iago Aspas from Sevilla and Celta Vigo respectively and most recently Sunderland goalkeeper Simon Mignolet already secured this summer, Gerrard is looking for the club to bring even more players to the club and bolster the squad.
The 33 year old said: “I’ve got a lot of confidence and belief in my team-mates and in the coaches we’ve got, that’s the reason why I feel as if we can move forward together and get success back soon.
“Every fan out there, and the players are no different – we want to see a few more faces to strengthen the team and squad even more. It is an exciting time when you get a couple of new faces in to freshen the squad up – you’re at the beginning of the season and it’s a fresh start, there are trophies to be won and things to achieve.
“I’m really excited at the moment.”
