Klopp was frustrated with his players, the fans and a great many other things today

It had to happen. Klopp was always going to lose his first game. But did it have to come to an Alan Pardew managed side?

No, truthfully, we always knew that Palace were likely to be the side that took advantage of the weekly gift goals and long-standing profligacy in front of the opposition goal. It just makes it much harder to swallow when enough chances were created to have won the game twice over.

For many, defeat means the losing side were the worse team, but it obviously isn’t always that cut and dried. Liverpool had plenty of chances, created even more half-chances and dominated possession. All statistics point to Liverpool being the dominant side but luck also plays a part and the Reds didn’t have too much of that.

Despite the disappointment of defeat, we still saw many positives and the progress under Jurgen Klopp continues. With that in mind, take a look at our players ratings after the jump.
