Liverpool may look to take advantage of winger Lorenzo Insigne’s contract situation at Napoli, according to Sport Mediaset Premium (translated by Football-Italia.net).

Insigne has a contract until 2019 but the 25 year old has been angling for a new deal which would dramatically increase his wages. He has been locked in negotiations with Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis but there has been a significant gap in the offers between the two sides. Napoli will only offer €2.5million a year while Insigne is demanding €4million a year.

The Reds, according to Mediaset Premium, may exploit the impasse by offering €30million in January. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has publicly stated that his squad lacks wingers, and Insigne would certainly fit the profile.

Although he has yet to score this season, Insigne has already provided five assists in 11 matches. Despite this, the Italian international has come in for criticism from fans for his performances this campaign after scoring 12 league goals last season.
